THE PETERSENS

I have never done this blogging thing at all, so it is something I’ll have to get accustomed to.  Well, today is a hot day in North Carolina.  Despite the heat, Joshua Lee and I have been trying to spend an ample amount of time outside.  He just got his first bike over this past weekend, so he’s more than okay with being outside, regardless of the 103 degree weather!  He doesn’t quite have the hang of how pedaling works, but he’s getting there, muttering to himself, "I just need to figure it out!"

We are having a great week compared to the last.  Since Ben was doing lots of training for his 2nd part-time job, Joshua Lee and I were left to our lonesome selves.  Usually this is quite okay, but not last week!  Joshua Lee missed his Daddy tons.  This missing him gave way to many temper tantrums, consistent disobedience and much whining.  For any of you who know Joshua Lee, he is rarely this way.  He is quite chill.  However, God was teaching both me and Joshua Lee about His forgiveness and grace.  I found that when Joshua Lee became difficult, I sinned in my heart against him.  I disciplined him out of anger, not out of love.  For this, I had to ask both God and Joshua Lee for forgiveness.  On the same note, Joshua Lee was able to witness my repentant heart and I think that softened his heart toward me.  What I learned from last week is that we are both such great sinners who are in much need of God’s grace!  I pray that Joshua Lee understands this more and more with each new day.
