Pray for Haiti
It’s all over the news…the pictures, the videos and the heartbreaking stories of the loss that so many people in Haiti have experienced and are continuing to experience. The situation is a dire one and it should move us to heartbroken-ness, compassion and generosity. I myself cannot even being to understand what it means to suffer as the people of Haiti have suffered. The Lord has graciously blessed us with much–a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs, and plenty of food in my fridge and cupboards.
So, what to do in light of such a horrific disaster? I think Money Saving Mom says it best, so please visit her blog for ideas in what YOU can do for Haiti in their time of need.
As for us, we will give $0.25 to Haiti for each comment left on this blog post, up to a total amount of $50. We are doing away with the rest of our more unnecessary expenses for the month (date night money, Redbox rental money, etc.) and then some to give to Haiti. Though we know that money is only of temporal value and not eternal, we hope that our compassion and love will reflect the love that Jesus Christ has for the people of Haiti, too.
So, what are you waiting for? Leave a comment!

You guys are all too gracious! The story behind my wife’s post is a little more humbling. We’ve just been working over the budget for the new year and fretting a bit about it’s limitations. In the midst of the anxiety and trying to strategize, Veronique read that post on Money Saving Mom and was really encouraged (and convicted by how self-focused we were being). So after being reminded again that God has met all our needs and really have no reason to throw ourselves a pity-party, she said “can we try the same thing? maybe encourage some others around us?” Though there certainly isn’t thousands of people reading our blog, I was also convited and thought it was a great idea.
We definitely hope God gets the glory, not us, and that those suffering in Haiti will turn to hope in Christ!

It is such a great tragedy of unimaginable proportion in Haiti. The Lord has led us to give thru Samaritan’s Purse. It is one of the few organizations that are 4-star based on their historic performace. We will pray for the victims and the Lord will show mercy to them through many who come to help.
