Sunday at Home

Church was cancelled yesterday due to the snow and icy roads, so we had family worship at home.  We sang a couple songs together (which was nice, but also slightly comical because Ben and I are not vocally gifted) and listened to a sermon from Covenant Life together.  JL “took notes” like we usually ask him to during church service and we fed Caleb a late breakfast to keep him quiet.  It worked!  As much as we missed the corporate worship and fellowship with other believers at TCC, there was something quite sweet to our morning together.

Here is the link to the sermon we listened to: http://www.covlife.org/resources/3538625-Teach_Us_To_Number_Our_Days

And, one of the hymns we sang (one of my favorites!)…

O church, arise and put your armor on;
Hear the call of Christ our captain;
For now the weak can say that they are strong
In the strength that God has given.
With shield of faith and belt of truth
We’ll stand against the devil’s lies;
An army bold whose battle cry is “Love!”
Reaching out to those in darkness.

Our call to war, to love the captive soul,
But to rage against the captor;
And with the sword that makes the wounded whole
We will fight with faith and valor.
When faced with trials on ev’ry side,
We know the outcome is secure,
And Christ will have the prize for which He died—
An inheritance of nations.

Come, see the cross where love and mercy meet,
As the Son of God is stricken;
Then see His foes lie crushed beneath His feet,
For the Conqueror has risen!
And as the stone is rolled away,
And Christ emerges from the grave,
This vict’ry march continues till the day
Ev’ry eye and heart shall see Him.

So Spirit, come, put strength in ev’ry stride,
Give grace for ev’ry hurdle,
That we may run with faith to win the prize
Of a servant good and faithful.
As saints of old still line the way,
Retelling triumphs of His grace,
We hear their calls and hunger for the day
When, with Christ, we stand in glory.

Snow Day!

Snow in North Carolina is a BIG DEAL…a REALLY big deal.  It’s comical to Ben and I because we’re from Minnesota, but we went with it.  We stocked up on a few food items yesterday, made sure we had an adequate number of candles, etc.  The great thing about snow in NC is that everyone gets so excited about it. I loved everyone’s enthusiasm, so we definitely had to partake in that.  We spent our morning playing in the snow…

Caleb didn’t enjoy himself very much.  See the crocodile tear on his cheek?

We pulled him around in the sled anyway.

JL, on the other hand, was ecstatic to be outside in the snow!

My husband enjoyed rolling around in the snow with the kiddos, too.

I enjoyed it for a little while, but it was COLD!

JL trying to form a snowball.

Caleb was so heavily dressed that he couldn’t walk.

Brothers in the snow.

My boys in the snow.

Cute Caleb.

Handsome JL.

So very happy to be playing in the snow.

Trying to Be Big

Caleb wants to be oh-so-much like his big brother.  He follows JL everywhere and imitates him constantly.  This week, BooBoo decided that he was going to be like his big brother by wearing his shoes.  Doesn’t he look so cute and funny all at the same time?  It seriously made JL crack up.
