Sweetness to My Ears

My husband was kind enough to let me go out tonight with a friend for a little break from taking care of my cute kids.  He loves me well!

As I was heading out the door, I kissed my Hubs and my 2 boys.  I told JL, “I’m going out on a “date” with Auntie Autumn!”  Reminded him to obey Daddy and love God.  He just smiled and watched me leave.

By the time I came home, both boys were in bed sleeping already.  I asked Ben later if either of the boys had looked for me.  He said that him and JL had this conversation…

JL (while eating dinner): Daddy, where is Mommy?

Ben: She’s out on a date with Auntie Autumn!

(JL sits quietly for a bit, thinking.)

JL: Daddy, I want to go out on a date with Mommy, too!

Ben: Yes, JL, you and Mommy will have to do that.

Wow, I just about melted when Ben told me this.  Absolute sweetness to my ears.  I guess me and JL will be going out on a date this week sometime!

In the Middle of the Night…

…JL came into our room.  I didn’t know it.  Ben didn’t know it.  But, JL did.  He stood on Ben’s side of the bed, staring straight into his Daddy’s face.  At some point, Ben opened his eyes and saw JL’s little white face and bright eyes just inches away from his own.  Ben yelled and pretty much jumped out of his skin, causing me to do the same.  I have never, EVER seen my husband react like that.  It was one of the most scariest moments I’ve ever had for awhile.  I think JL thought the same.  What was his reaction?  He started bawling his little face off.  Oops!  We scooped him into our bed and let him sleep with us for awhile after that.

Homemade Baby Wipes

Since we have eliminated paper towel usage in our home, I have been waiting for our store-bought baby wipes to run out so that I can use up the rest of my paper towels to make homemade baby wipes.  The time finally arrived this past week!  I Google-d for a good recipe online and got to work.  Here’s how you make them:

1.)  Take a roll of paper towels.  Most people cut the paper towel roll in half and remove the cardboard from the middle.  Instead, I tore all of mine, cut them in half and folded them the way store-bought baby wipes come. Place the pile in loaf-sized pan.

2.) Boil 2 cups of water in a small saucepan.  After the water is boiled, turn the power off.  Whisk in 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of baby wash/shampoo.  Pour the mixture over the pile of paper towels.

3.) Once the pile is cooled, you can place them in whatever container you would like for easy access when diaper-changing.

I think these work great, if not BETTER than store-bought wipes.  I hope you like them, too!
