The {T} Family

I had such a fun time capturing the joy and chemistry this family has together! The crazy things I found myself doing to get the girls to smile and forget the cold still make me giggle to myself. There I was in downtown Raleigh gobbling like a big ole turkey and asking the girls to look for my third eyeball! Who does that kind of stuff? I guess I do! Well, it made for good memories.

Back to the {T} family though…they are super great! Betsy is always so genuine when I talk to her. And, the gifts that God has given her in service and hospitality–she pretty much blows me away! On top of that, she can sew and decorate her home beautifully like nobody’s business. Britt is passionate about the Bible, preaching, writing and evangelism. As a pair, they definitely make much of God. They even have 2 beautiful girls. Here they are: The {T} Family…I am thankful to know you guys and have the chance to photograph you!

The {S} Family

I seriously had so much fun photographing this family. They are easy to talk to and their kids are pretty awesome! I remember when we first joined our church and Nathan was just an itty-bitty baby. Now he is going to school, playing soccer and talking up a storm! Time really does fly. Noah is on the move, discovering the world and noticing all of the details. What a cutie pie! I cannot wait to see what their 3rd will be like. So thankful for this family and the love they have for one another which comes from their love for the Lord!

The {M} Family

What I love about this family is that not only are they part of our church family, they also live right in our neighborhood. That means I get to see a lot of them and that is a really good thing! Ben and Becca are some of the sweetest and most humble people you will ever meet. They never talk about how musically talented they both are and Becca can pretty much sew anything she puts her mind to. Beyond that, they love their kids and what a cute couple of kids they are. Caeden has endless amounts of energy and Sophie has an unlimited supply of smiles and girly coos. I am so blessed to know your family!

Growing up, my sister and I had our lives all planned out. We were going to get married around the same time, pop out a few kids apiece while living next door to each other in the cul-de-sac of a nice neighborhood, and just watch our kids grow up being each other’s best friends. Well, God had other plans for me and for her. Right now, we live on opposite sides of the North American continent and she has a stellar teaching career while I am chasing my three little boys around all day. Things didn’t quite turn out the way I pictured it, but it has happened the way God has written it and I can confidently say it is very, very GOOD. My sister is soon to be married to a pretty “neat” guy next year. They both love things like running, dogs, yummy restaurants and laughing all the time together. It has been a joy to see where they have been and where they are now in their relationship with each other and with the Lord. My heart is full and overflowing with love and pride for my gorgeous sister and my future brother-in-law. Okay, now it is time for you to see their love shine!

This couple had chemistry and a great sense of humor, so it was fun to be a small part of their big day. Here are a handful of my favorite shots!

The {E} Family

As you can maybe tell from my last few blog posts, the presence of photography in my life has increased a little bit. It excites me! My love for photography grows with each session that I go on and a lot of that has to do with the great people that I meet. A few weeks ago, I got to shoot this sweet family of 3. They were referred to me by a friend of mine (thanks, Betsy!) and I am so glad! We had a good time just walking around the Arboretum and getting to know one another. Their little girl has got some spunk. She seems to always be on the go. And, her love for candy corn is unmatched!

Probably my favorite thing about these photo sessions is the fact that I get the honor of capturing a family’s love for another through the camera lens. It is raw, vulnerable, sweet and glorious. Glorious because the existence of every family unit is due to the sovereign hand of God. It is a reminder to me that God is never surprised and He knows exactly what He is doing and it is GOOD. Anyway, here is the {E} family and THEY are so GOOD! Just take a look and see.

{B}’s First Birthday Party

Our good friends invited us to their son’s first birthday. The first birthday is always such an event! ESPECIALLY for the parents. I know that when my boys turned 1, it became a time of reminiscing. I think back to the first smile, the first time he slept through the night, the first major poop explosion, the first time rolling over, the first time eating Cheerios, the first time crawling, the first time he said “Mama”, etc. All of those firsts are precious and us mothers tuck away those sweet memories forever. Well, I am sure our friends had a similar experience as they celebrated the first year of life with their little boy. They love him so much and that love was reflected in all of the details. The Eric Carle theme, the banners, the cute cupcakes, the fondant animals, the hugs, the kisses and the joyful laughter as {B} cautiously picked apart and tasted his special cake…see for yourself!

Baby Boy {J}

We have some friends from church who just recently moved overseas. We miss them something terrible, but are excited to see how God will use them! In their last few weeks here in the States, we had them over for one last playdate. I was able to capture a few cute shots of their youngest (of 4!). He is one month older than my youngest, Isaac, so I was hoping to get some pictures of them together. Sadly, Isaac napped the whole time he was here and by the time he woke up, {J} had gone down for his nap. So here are a few of just {J}. He is seriously about one of THE friendliest and THE cutest babies I know. Enjoy!

{L} Family Photo Session

How fun it has been to watch the {L} family grow! If you remember, they have been my guinea pigs for the past year or so as I have been learning photography. So it has been a sweet treat to watch their baby girl turn into a walking, talking, active toddler and now I get to watch their little baby boy do the same! The {L} family asked me to come and take a few pictures a couple weeks after their baby boy was born. Here are a few shots!

Aaron and Allison’s Wedding

With three kids to care for now, I don’t have a lot of time for photography anymore, but I did get the opportunity to second-shoot for one of my good friends, Samantha Maxwell. Being that it was only the second wedding I’ve ever photographed, it was fairly stressful but also a ton of fun! There is always so much more to learn about using my camera, shooting on manual, composition, etc. Hopefully I will just keep getting more opportunities to grow.
