I have organizing spurts. They are good. It means that the house gets in a little better order. This serves my husband and kids well. Personally, I also think it helps create a more peaceful atmosphere. Clutter overwhelms me and makes me feel anxious.
A few months ago, I re-arranged my kitchen. I was trying to make more space in my cupboards and drawers. This entailed:
1) Getting rid of stuff (by giving it away or selling it).
2.) Purging my foodstuffs and organizing it (and getting rid of stuff that we would never eat anyway).
3.) Coming up with creative places to put stuff.
Going along with #3, I found a tutorial for a grocery bag holder. I had been keeping my plastic bags (which we use for our kitchen trash can) in an ENTIRE DRAWER. With the holder now, I added a drawer for cooking stuff and a little splash of color to my kitchen. How delightful!

So, what does one do when you’re snowed in in North Carolina over an entire weekend and your hubby has to work overtime and your kids are sweetly napping? I don’t know if I’ll always resort to this, but during this rare instance, I decided to do a little sewing and mending. I put a button back on a shirt, I mended a pair of JL’s pajama pants, made myself a nursing cover and sewed a nifty strap for my DSLR. All in all, it was really fun. I enjoy when I can create. I am very new to sewing though, so I will post pictures of my handiwork as well as the blog from which I got the tutorial. I don’t create on my own yet…maybe one day!

I guess I didn’t think about how to take a picture of the camera strap after putting it back ON MY CAMERA. Oops. This is the best view you’re gonna get.
The next sewing project I’m going to tackle next is a birthday present my niece in MN. I will make sure to post my experience with that soon! What sewing projects are you currently working on?
