Sliced Fingers, Swine Flu, and Stress

The first month of 2010 has been a busy one, especially the last couple of weeks.  So, I simply got off the habit of blogging.  Not just for the reason of busy-ness, however.  I also sliced up two of the fingers on my left hand while cutting beef.  YIKES.  That hurt.  And it still does.  My kids came down with the swine flu (at least that’s what I think).  SIGH.  Crabby kids.  They still are.  Lastly, my husband was asked to work overtime a couple days.  YUCK.  I miss him.  BUT, I was so encouraged by the sermon preached this past Sunday at my church.  It was all about how believers shouldn’t grumble because it affects God’s glory.  So thankful for God’s grace toward me though!

Check it out here: http://www.treasuringchristchurch.com/sermons.php?objectID=80

Despite sliced fingers, swine flu, and stress though, I fully intend to get return to blogging.  I’m BACK!

Pray for Haiti

blog_prayforhaiti_helpforhaiti

It’s all over the news…the pictures, the videos and the heartbreaking stories of the loss that so many people in Haiti have experienced and are continuing to experience.  The situation is a dire one and it should move us to heartbroken-ness, compassion and generosity.  I myself cannot even being to understand what it means to suffer as the people of Haiti have suffered.  The Lord has graciously blessed us with much–a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs, and plenty of food in my fridge and cupboards.

So, what to do in light of such a horrific disaster?  I think Money Saving Mom says it best, so please visit her blog for ideas in what YOU can do for Haiti in their time of need.

As for us, we will give $0.25 to Haiti for each comment left on this blog post, up to a total amount of $50.  We are doing away with the rest of our more unnecessary expenses for the month (date night money, Redbox rental money, etc.) and then some to give to Haiti.  Though we know that money is only of temporal value and not eternal, we hope that our compassion and love will reflect the love that Jesus Christ has for the people of Haiti, too.

So, what are you waiting for?  Leave a comment!

Update on Caleb Bear

blog_updateoncalebbear_calebsuckingthumb

Those of you who have prayed, called and asked for updates…thank you!  We feel so loved.  The appointment this morning went really well.  The urologist confirmed that Caleb does NOT have a urinary tract infection.  This is good news!  If he did, this would be highly unusual for a boy his age and would indicate possible other problems.  So, we are thankful that we do not have to walk this trial of “unknowns” regarding his health.  Once again, thanks again for your prayers!
